Elizabeth Gail- Mystery at Johnson Farm
LIBBY was sitting on a sofa in the family room, waiting for the Johnson family to get home when the telephone rang. A surprise call came in from Brenda Wilkens, the absolute, flat out meanest girl in the world, as far as Libby could tell. Over the phone, Brenda tells Libby to come over right away- she has a little Christmas gift for the family. So Libby shows up and knocks, but nobody answers the door. Brenda found the pair of gloves that Joe, Brenda’s brother, came home with, since he didn’t have a pair of his own. He was meaning to return them before Brenda could find them and do something mean to Libby. So when Brenda does find them, she puts them on top of Mr. Wilkens’ desk where he keeps his money- or should I say,” kept his money,” since he had 50 bucks in there. Brenda places the money in Libby’s possession, and now Libby gets blamed for it. And even if she did, though she didn’t take the money, she remains the theft for now and the mystery stays unsolved, at least until Brenda admits her wrong doings, which obviously will always remain a secret.
